WHAT I OFFER
01
Behaviour Support
Reactivity, aggression, anxiety, resource guarding, separation distress, and other complex behaviour challenges. Fear-free, reward-based, and built around the why behind your dog's behaviour.
02
General Training
Everyday life skills for dogs of all ages and stages. Loose lead walking, recall, settling, puppy foundations, polite greetings, and manners — practical, fun, and reward-based throughout.
The specialist behind the work.
ABOUT ME
I'm Isabel Hyland — Canine Behaviour Specialist and dog trainer, and the only certified behaviourist in the Hobart area.
I work with dogs that are often described as intense, reactive, sensitive, or easily overwhelmed. These dogs aren't difficult — they're misunderstood. Standard training alone rarely helps them, because their behaviour isn't a manners problem. It's an emotional one. My job is to understand the why behind what your dog is doing, and build a practical plan that actually fits your life.
My approach is grounded in fear-free, reward-based principles. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every dog — and every household — is different, and the support I provide reflects that.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY
"What a fabulous, informative experience it was to be guided by Izzy in our session to assist my anxious reactive dog Scooby. All the animals including my cats were put at ease with her calming presence. Izzy is an outstanding trainer and I would highly recommend her if you have any issues with your dog."
— KATY
"Where I previously felt clueless and frustrated, dreading walks where we ran into other dogs, I now feel much more relaxed and confident. Talking to Izzy helped me understand my dog a little more, and now the training just feels like fun."
— MEGAN
"Izzy was fantastic — insightful, knowledgeable, supportive and non-judgy. She had simple, practical tips for us that have already had a positive impact. We now feel more confident that we're putting our efforts into the right things in the right way."
— JENNIFER
"Isabel is a gifted dog trainer who understands and appreciates the challenges that both humans and dogs face. Her approach is calm, clear, methodical, and organised — all very comforting for both human and dog. Our puppy Hampton has come a long way."
— HEATHER
"After one week of training, we are already enjoying life much more — no yelling, no pulling, no adverse reactions with other dogs. The dogs are having fun too! I am confident we can reach our goals of stress-free dogginess."
— FIONA
"Just prior to our first meeting I had actually thought of giving him up. I'm very proud of him now, and I do think that it was your influence on me which Joe has recognised, and is responding to in a really positive way."
— MARGARET
